FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – An 82-year-old woman was attacked by a family dog.

Fresno Police say it happened around 1:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, at a house in Fresno.

The woman was found unresponsive in the backyard of a house.

Police saw multiple bite marks on her legs and it looked like her legs were chewed on.

The family told officers they found her laying on the ground and bleeding from both legs, then called 911.

Animal control has taken the two family pit bulls into quarantine.

Police say at least one of the dogs attacked the woman and officers are having DNA tests done to find out if both dogs are responsible.

An ambulance took the woman to the hospital where she later died.

The hospital says she died of a heart attack.

Police say it is unknown if she had the heart attack before or after the dog attack.
