FRESNO (KMJ) — An 18 year has been arrested for an overnight murder in Southwest Fresno, which Fresno Police consider to be gang related.

Eliseo Orozco is alleged to have shot and killed Juan Rangel Thursday evening; his arrest came Friday morning. Officers say the 31 year old victim was driving past the Frank H. Ball community center at Mayor and Inyo when he was struck by gunfire. A passenger in the vehicle was injured and taken to the hospital.

“We do know that this was a fued between rival gangs, Hispanic gangs, in that particular neighborhood” revealed Chief Jerry Dyer.

“We’re going to send a message that this is not going to be tolerated in that neighborhood or any other, and certainly not around a playground where innocent children are out playing.”

A gang operation has begun in the area, with around 50 extra officers being deployed to maintain peace.
