Jim Jordan: Liz Cheney ‘Totally Wrong,’ Should Be Removed

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is calling for House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., to be removed from her position after she announced her intent to vote to impeach President Donald Trump over the riot at the Capitol last week.

On Tuesday, Cheney said in a statement that “The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution. I will vote to impeach the President.”

“I think she’s totally wrong. I think there should be a conference and have a second vote on” her leadership position, Jordan told reporters on Wednesday, according to the Washington Examiner.

“We ought to have a second vote,” he added, according to The Hill. “The conference ought to vote on that.”

Jordan joins his fellow House Republicans Matt Rosendale of Montana and Andy Biggs of Arizona, who also chairs the House Freedom Caucus, in calling for Cheney to step down.

“I don’t think she should be the chair of the Republican conference anymore,” Biggs told Fox News on Tuesday. “The reality is she’s not representing the conference; she’s not representing the Republican ideals.”

The congressman said in a statement that the “individuals who committed the crimes at the U.S. Capitol last week are solely to blame for their violent actions.”
