FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Five Fresno residents are under arrest after investigators say they stole roughly 500 bronze vases from Fresno Memorial Gardens Cemetery over a four-month span.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the thefts happened between April and July at the cemetery near Highway 180 and Cornelia Avenue.
Detectives believe the vases were taken and recycled for cash.
The Ag Task Force worked with the Fresno County Adult Compliance Team to identify and arrest five suspects. Authorities estimate the stolen vases were worth more than $40,000 at retail, while the recycled bronze may have brought in about $15,000.
None of the stolen vases have been recovered.
