SANGER, Calif. (KFSN) — A man is dead following a crash in Sanger that police say they are investigating as a hit-and-run.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified him as Bernard Anhelm, 71, of Sanger.
Authorities were called out to Academy Avenue and 3rd Street just before 5:30 am Thursday.
They arrived and found Anhelm lying in the street with injuries they say matched being hit by a vehicle.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Police say the driver left before emergency crews arrived.
Academy Avenue in the area of Fifth Street will be closed for several hours. Drivers should avoid the area.
