The Fresno Irrigation District Board of Directors recently agreed to extend water deliveries to all agricultural customers through August 15th.
FID began water deliveries on March 16th, initially projecting a water delivery season continuing
through the end of July.
FID will now be able to provide a five-month water season primarily due
to Kings River runoff being favorable to FID’s water entitlements.
“Water supply conditions have developed more favorably than anticipated this year,” said Bill
Stretch, FID’s General Manager. “While hydrologic conditions are approximately 75% of average
for the water year, FID ultimately received stronger Kings River water entitlements than were
projected earlier in the season.”
FID will continue to convey water to the cities of Fresno and Clovis throughout the water year to
their three surface water treatment plants, which keeps wells turned off and benefits local
groundwater tables.
