(KMJ) Governor Gavin Newsom says the Department of Justice is investigating him and members of his family—calling it political retaliation.
In a video posted to social media Monday, Newsom says federal agents have contacted family, friends, and former employees, seeking records and documents.
Newsom also accuses President Trump of directing the probe, tying it to speculation that the governor could run for president after leaving office next year.
In the post he called Trump “…simply the most corrupt president in American history.”
The governor calls the investigation an abuse of power. The DOJ has not publicly confirmed any inquiry.
