Clovis, CA, June 11, 2026 – The City of Clovis is pleased to announce the selection of Jason Ralls as the new Fire Chief of the Clovis Fire Department.
Ralls currently serves as the Deputy Fire Chief of Clovis Fire. “Jason Ralls brings a depth of experience to the role of Fire Chief that is truly exceptional,” said Andy Haussler, Clovis City Manager.
“With nearly 30 years of service in the Clovis Fire Department, along with extensive work on critical incidents across the state, he has the expertise and the respect to excel in this important position. Jason’s addition to our executive team will be invaluable as we continue our work to keep Clovis the safest city in the Valley and a place our residents are proud to call home.” -Andy Haussler, Clovis City Manager
Deputy Chief Ralls joined the Clovis Fire Department in October of 1996. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Managerial Economics from UC Davis and his master’s degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Fresno Pacific University.
Ralls is active in state and national professional organizations and holds numerous certifications and credentials. “Chief Jason Ralls steps into this position as one who has served in every role within the Clovis Fire Department,” said Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua. “He is respected, competent, and loves Clovis. The City Council is familiar with his abilities and stand confidently behind his appointment by our City Manager. We offer our unwavering support of his leadership of the Clovis Fire Department.”
In his new role, Ralls will lead a team of 83 sworn firefighters and 8 support staff, and manage a budget of $31.5 million.

Deputy Chief Ralls will replace current Fire Chief Chris Ekk, who will retire July 31, 2026, having served three years in the position. Chief Ekk said, “I am excited for Chief Ralls and the future of our fire department.
Chief Ralls brings a combination of integrity and vision to this role, paired with a genuine commitment to our community and the success of our team. Our department is in excellent hands.”
It is expected that the Clovis City Council will confirm Deputy Chief Ralls’ appointment during the June 15 Council Meeting.
