MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — North Valley students shined with spelling skills, earning one of them a spot on the national stage.
Akshara Thummala from Merced Scholars Charter School took first place in the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee over the weekend.
She was one of the top Spellers who represented Merced County.
The Merced County Office Education said Akshara secured first place with the word “untenable.”
She will now compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. this May.
Congratulations to Akshara and the several spellers who made the Valley proud.
