FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — A man was shot and killed at a Northwest Fresno Starbucks parking lot Sunday evening and his killer is on the loose.
Police say the deadly attack happened around 5:50 near Shaw and Dale Avenues, just east of Highway 99.
“We heard multiple shots just bam, bam, bam, bam and we hit the ground because it was so close and loud and then it got quiet and a car sped off,” neighbor Ralph Graham recalled.
Ralph Graham says he was working in his backyard when the shots rang out, just feet away from him.
“I jumped over the fence to see if I could help him, but it was too late,” Graham stated.
Police say the victim was shot in the chest.
“To have something like this happen is very disheartening and sad,” Graham said.
Despite medical aid, the man died from his injuries.
“Very sad,” neighbor Rita said. “In fact, I was kind of nervous last night when I went to bed.”
Rita says she had just finished a walk in the area with her husband when the shooting happened.
“I thought ‘Thank God we didn’t get shot or anything,'” Rita said.
She says she’s been living in the neighborhood since 1956.
“It’s always been as far as I’m concerned a very good neighborhood. This is the very first time this has happened,” she added. “That was kind of scary.”
Police have not released any additional information on the victim or suspect.
