DUNLAP, Calif. (KFSN) — Just days after her death, a Dunlap woman’s coworkers are raising funds to send her home to her family out of state.
34-year-old stepmother Misty Lynn was struck head-on by an alleged impaired driver while on her way to work on Wednesday. She was on her way to work at the Bella Brooke Cafe.
The man behind the wheel was 41-year-old Zachary Kinberger, a man with a prior history of reckless and impaired driving.
The California Highway Patrol said Kinberger also had a 21-year-old and two children under five in his Tesla when he sent Misty flying 30 feet into an embankment on Highway 180 and Old Oak Road, killing her.
“To take somebody else’s life, and they didn’t just take Misty’s, they took part of us,” said Gena Lori Marr, Misty’s boss and owner of the cafe.
That pain felt deeply within the Dunlap community. In their grief, the community is coming together.
The Bella Brooke Cafe created a new “angel wings” drink to help her family.
“Half of every one of the drinks will go toward Misty’s family to help financially for a little while, and we will run that all summer,” said Marr.
If you’d like to help out, you can donate directly to the cafe’s Facebook page.
