(KMJ) — California Governor Gavin Newsom says there’s no imminent threat to the state, despite an FBI alert suggesting Iran could attempt a drone strike on the West Coast.
Newsom says drone concerns have “always been top of mind,” and that the state remains prepared for worst‑case scenarios.
The White House also downplayed the report, saying no such threat to the homeland exists.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X that the message to law enforcement was a tip based on “unverified intelligence” and blasted ABC News for pushing the narrative. “No such threat from Iran to our homeland exists, and it never did,” Leavitt said Thursday.

The FBI bulletin, circulated to California law‑enforcement agencies, warned that Iran had considered using drones launched from a vessel off the U.S. coast, but emphasized the intelligence was unverified.
President Donald Trump was asked about it Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews. “It’s being investigated, but you have a lot of things happening. All we can do is take ’em as they come.”
