CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — A Clovis woman celebrated a major milestone, marking 105 years young.
Action News was in the Neighborhood Sunday as friends, family, and the community joined in wishing Mary Rigsbee a happy birthday at the Magnolia Crossing Assisted Living Community in Clovis.
Instead of a giant cake, Mary’s family opted for an ice cream social because of her love for the cool dessert.
Mary was born in 1921 and has been a lifelong resident of Clovis.
Her son shares the birthday girl’s secret to her longevity.
“She would always tell us that it was working hard, a good sense of humor and she used to tell us that a little shot of Crown Royal once in a while never helped,” Chuck Rigsbee said.
Mary Rigsbee is an active member of the Clovis Rodeo Association.
Fun fact: her grandfather helped cook the meal for the first rodeo in 1914 when it was originally known as Clovis Days.
