TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KMJ) — Highway 99 was closed in both directions for several hours Saturday near Earlimart in Tulare County.
As many as 59 vehicles were involved in a massive pileup around 8:15 a.m. Saturday.
The CHP responded to multiple crashes that happened on both the northbound and southbound lanes near Avenue 24.
Nearly a dozen people were reported to be hospitalized. Others were transported to the Tulare Ag Center.
Investigators say thick morning fog was a factor.
Both sides of the highway were closed well into the evening causing headaches for travelers.
