MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Two people are dead and three others are injured following a crash in Madera County.
The California Highway Patrol says it happened in the area of Avenue 13 and Road 23 before 11 am Wednesday.
Officers say the driver of a Honda CR-V was going west on Avenue 13 when they either ran the stop sign or failed to yield to a big rig.
The Honda crashed into the side of the big rig and veered off to the shoulder.
Officers say four of the five people inside were thrown from the vehicle.
The two were declared dead at the scene. The three others were rushed to the hospital.
Officers say the driver of the big rig was not hurt.
They are still investigating if the weather was a factor in the crash.
