FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) Mike Karbassi announced Wednesday exclusively with KMJ’s Broeske & Musson that he’s now running for District 1 Fresno County Supervisor.
The two-term Fresno City Councilman is seeking to replace Brian Pacheco (D-Kerman), who officially launched his District 27 Assembly campaign on Tuesday.
Pacheco is running to replace Esmarelda Soria (D-Fresno) who’s running for State Senate.
Karbassi had previously announced a bid for County Clerk in an effort to oust elections chief James Kus. He had been critical of Kus’s performance in previous elections.
“I’ve had six and and a half years to do this and I think I’m pretty good at it,” Karbassi told the KMJ audience.
Also running for the Supervisor seat include: Omar Hernandez, an aide to Rep. Adam Gray and Firebaugh City Councilman Felipe Perez.
Others reportedly considering a bid include: Fresno non-profit leader Eric Payne and Kerman Mayor Maria Pacheco.
“For 11 years, western Fresno County has been blessed with steady, pragmatic leadership from Supervisor Brian Pacheco,” Karbassi said. “I am running to continue that legacy by advancing practical solutions and securing essential resources for the residents of west Fresno, Kerman, Mendota, Firebaugh, San Joaquin, Tranquility, and the many rural communities across the westside.”
