Shelton Henderson totaled 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead Miami to a 75-66 victory against Ole Miss as part of the ACC-SEC Challenge on Tuesday night at Oxford, Miss.
The Hurricanes (7-2) equaled their win total from last season and snapped a 16-game road losing streak, winning their first true road game since Jan. 24, 2024 at Notre Dame.
Miami made a season-high 11 3-pointers out of 25 attempts (44 percent), led by Tru Washington, who went 4-for-6 from deep and finished with 17 points. Washington also had seven rebounds and three steals.
Travis Perry and Patton Pinkins each had 11 points to lead the Rebels (5-3), who lost their third game in a row. Malik Dia also had nine points and nine rebounds.
Miami led 47-28 with 18:27 left in the second half when Ole Miss subbed out all five starters. Led by Koren Johnson’s six points during a 12-2 surge, the Rebels cut Miami’s lead to 49-40 over the next two minutes and 40 seconds.
Ole Miss held its own and cut the Hurricanes’ lead to nine again with 5:29 left on a Perry jumper. But Washington answered with five quick points for Miami to help it eventually seal the win.
Miami held Ole Miss to 26 points in the first half, which was its lowest output so far this season, and to only 25.8 percent shooting (8 of 31) from the field. The Rebels shot 34.8 percent (23 of 66) for the game, despite shooting 11-for-26 from 3-point range. Perry made three of those triples.
Malik Reneau scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds while Tre Donaldson had 11 points, four rebounds and four assists for the Hurricanes.
Miami was without guards Dante Allen and Marcus Allen. Dante Allen is expected to miss multiple weeks due to an upper-body injury while Marcus Allen is considered game-to-game with a lower-body injury.
