FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the man who was killed while working on an oil rig near Riverdale as 29-year-old Alfredo Oronia from Arvin, CA.
Deputies were called around 10:45 a.m. on Monday about an injured man in a field near Mt. Whitney and Polk avenues near Riverdale.
When they arrived, they found Oronia, who had died after being crushed by a large piece of steel that had swung down from the rig.
Investigators say that Oronia was working with a company to remove an oil rig from the property.
The incident is under investigation by Cal/OSHA.
