FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A shooting suspect has been arrested after a Fresno Police officer hit him with their car in River Park.
Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto says officers in the area heard gunshots around 7:30 p.m.
One officer saw a man armed with a gun running away from the parking lot into oncoming traffic on Blackstone Avenue. The officer then chased the man on foot across the street to the Sam’s Club.
As additional officers responded in patrol vehicles, one officer ran into the suspect to stop him. Casto said the officer was driving at a speed of less than 20 MPH.
The man suffered minor injuries and is now in custody. Officers were able to recover a gun from the suspect.
Casto believes the suspect had gotten into a fight with someone leading up to the shooting. She added that the other people involved left the scene in a white SUV.
At least five shots were fired, but no one was struck by gunfire. Police say there are no outstanding suspects.
The suspect has not been identified.
