FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California Senate has approved a bill that would subject heavy-duty diesel trucks to smog inspections.
Over the next ten years, SB 210 would affect about 1 million big-rigs, which the legislation’s supporters claim are a significant contributor to air pollution.
The trucks are said to be responsible for almost 60 percent of nitrogen oxides emissions.
SB 210 is now in the Assembly.
