FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A contractor pleads guilty to supplying unqualified armed guards to the Fresno IRS facility.
Court documents show that 49-year-old Robert Bejarano, of Kingsburg was one of three men who falsified firearms shooting scores that security guards must meet as required under contract.
Over a three-year period, E&A was paid over $2 million on fraudulent invoices submitted to the IRS for security guards who were not qualified to work under the contract.
Bejarano faces a up to 15 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.
Co-defendant Matthew L. Cocola, 37, of Fresno who was a certified firearms instructor doing business as Security Solutions of California & The Praetorian Diversified Institute in Clovis, pleaded guilty on August 8, 2016, to using a false statement.
Charges are still pending against co-defendant Scott L. Carlton, 49, of Visalia, with his jury trial set to begin on November 6, 2019.
