FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California Rifle and Pistol Association has filed a lawsuit against the state, challenging the law the bans the sale of semi-automatic rifles equipped with so-called bullet buttons.
The state affiliate of the National Rifle Association believes it criminalizes the common possession of firearms by law-abiding citizens.
It’s the first of 5 planned lawsuits against the Golden State, which implemented numerous gun restrictions, following the 2015 terrorist attack in San Bernardino.
Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon predicts the laws with withstand the legal challenges, although opponents say they’ll fight to the end.
