FRESNO (KMJ) — A Fresno based company is declaring Thursday December 8th ‘A Day for Felicity’. 10 year old Felicity Adams is battling Joubert Syndrome, a condition which affects her kidneys.
Her family are hoping to find a kidney transplant, and until then she needs regular dialysis and a feeding tube in order to survive. Her cause is something Barrier Companies Roofing and Solar wanted to help out with.
“James Adams, an employee of mine of almost 16 years, has a daughter that’s really really sick”, explains CEO Blair Cunnings. “We were going to not work over Thanksgiving weekend…and he teared up and I’m like ‘what happened?’. He said that he needed the overtime to pay his bills”.
Those bills include the cost of dialysis, and the energy associated with it, all to keep his daughter alive while she awaits a suitable donor.
“We came up with ‘A Day for Felicity’ where the employees had the option to donate their entire pay for that day or more. I’m absolutely amazed – every employee did it, it was voluntary, and a lot of employees actually donated more than that and we matched that as well”.
In total, more than $35,000 has been raised for the cause.
“We do need that O+ kidney”, explains her father James Adams. “Somebody to step forward and do a kidney swap”.

“She’s a bright 10 year old little girl, and all she wants to do is go to school and sing and dance”, continues James Adams. “So if anybody is willing to step forward and give her that kidney, we sure would like it”.
