~As housing growth continues in Madera, both Fresno and Madera County Supervisors are working out solutions for future residents to cross back and forth over the San Joaquin River.
On Tuesday, Fresno County Supervisors expanded a transportation corridor study —to include alternative routes — looking at the 99 as well as the 41 Freeway.
"Then we'll combine that with other studies we've done in the past on other river crossings, so really it's just getting us in a position to make some good planning decisions in the future as we project the thousands of people that will be living in the future on each side of that river." – Fresno Country Supervisor Henry Perea
Fresno Country Supervisor Henry Perea says the 250-thousand dollar study is covered within the COG Council budgets.
The next step is for the COG to approve the money within their budget in the next month or two, and then conduct a study which will take 9-10 months.
