The run of above average Valley temperatures show no signs of ending anytime soon.
As a result, China Peak Ski Resort has posted this message on its website:
"WE ARE TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL WE RECEIVE MORE SNOW."
The Peak has only gotten 2-3 inches of snow in the past seven days. And the weather is simply too warm to use snow-making machines.
According to the USDA's National Water and Climate Center, California, Arizona and New Mexico all remain in a prolonged drought.
And NWCC Director Mike Strobel says the snowpack in the Sierra is as low as he's ever seen it for this time of year.
