CLOVIS, Calif. – Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for the Glioblastoma Awareness Walk, an event honoring the life and legacy of Derrick Franklin while raising awareness about glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
The walk will begin at 6:30 a.m. at Railroad Park, located at 805 N. Peach Avenue in Clovis, with participants encouraged to arrive by 6:00 a.m. for check-in and fellowship.
Complimentary coffee and pastries will be available prior to the start of the walk.
Organized by the Franklin family, the event is designed to celebrate Derrick’s life, unite the community, and increase understanding of glioblastoma and its impact on patients, caregivers, and loved ones.
Participants are encouraged to wear gray, the color associated with brain cancer awareness.
“Through this walk, we hope to honor Derrick’s memory while helping others learn more about glioblastoma and the challenges families face when confronted with this disease,” said event organizer Tiara Franklin.
The walk is open to the public, and community members of all ages are welcome to participate.
Listen to the report by KMJ’s Liz Kern.
