The Chicago White Sox recalled rookie left-hander Noah Schultz from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday and designated veteran right-hander Jose Urquidy for assignment.
Schultz, 23, is 3-9 with a 6.06 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) since making his debut on April 14. The 2022 first-round draft pick is 3-2 with a 2.01 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) with Charlotte.
Urquidy, 31, last pitched on Sept. 8 when he allowed two runs on five hits in four innings in a 9-3 home loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The native of Mexico went 2-1 with a 4.37 ERA in six games (one start) for the White Sox, who acquired him on July 26 from the Pirates for minor league right-hander Felix Doroteo.
For his career, Urquidy is 29-18 with two saves and a 4.08 ERA over 92 games (71 starts) for the Houston Astros (2019-23), Detroit Tigers (2025), Pirates (2026) and White Sox.
Chicago also activated rookie right-hander Tyler Davis from the bereavement list and optioned him to Charlotte.
