(KMJ) Governor Gavin Newsom’s defamation lawsuit against Fox News is now headed toward a March 2028 trial.
Newsom sued the network over its coverage of a June 2025 phone call with President Trump during unrest tied to immigration raids in Los Angeles. Newsom claims Fox intentionally distorted coverage to make it appear he lied about the call.
The California democrat and potential Presidential candidate is seeking $787 million dollars in damages, the same amount Fox paid to settle the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit.
Fox News tells the LA Times it will continue to vigorously defend against what it calls meritless claims, while Newsom’s attorney says the governor is determined to hold the network accountable in court.
