On Monday, Gomez’s 12-year-old daughter took the stand against her mother and stepfather, testifying that her mother admitted she and Garcia had hurt Bernardi before taking her and her sister to Mexico on a “vacation.”
Gomez and Garcia were arrested in Mexico and returned to Fresno County.
Investigators previously alleged that Gomez initially told authorities Bernardi had been attacked by a homeless man.
