REEDLEY, Calif. (KFSN) — There has been yet another delay in federal sentencing for a man convicted of running an illegal biolab in Reedley.
Jia Bei Zhu Joo, who has also referred to himself as David He, was supposed to be sentenced Monday in Sacramento.
Late last week, his attorneys filed a motion for a new trial and sentencing.
The Chinese National has already been found guilty of 12 counts, including conspiracy, fraud and lying to the FDA.
A motion for a new trial has now been set for November 16, and the sentencing hearing is now scheduled for December 14.
It’s been nearly four years since a green garden hose led to the discovery of the illegal lab in Reedley.
CDC investigators say they found at least 20 infectious agents, including HIV, tuberculosis and even a freezer labeled “Ebola.”
