SAN ANTONIO — President Donald Trump appeared to be trying to add context Wednesday to previous remarks he made about Iran potentially attacking Los Angeles and San Diego.
Speaking in San Antonio while campaigning for Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton, Trump referenced comments he made earlier this week when he suggested that Iran could “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego if it were allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.

“I said it the other day. ‘Let them hit a missile into San Diego or Los Angeles on the way. Let them hit.’ You want to see a horror show? You want to see problems?” Trump told the Texas crowd on Wednesday.
“Let them hit San Diego. Let them hit Los Angeles if you want to see some bad things happen. You want to see a country that would be in free fall? We’re not going to let that happen,” he added. “We protect our cities. We protect our country. We’re not letting that happen.”
Trump’s speech was interrupted multiple times by protesters.
Trump’s comments earlier this week sparked outrage from California political leaders.
In a post on social media, California Gov. Gavin Newsom denounced Trump’s comments, writing, “Let’s be clear: The President is advocating for an attack on 10+ million U.S. residents in two of America’s largest cities. This is not normal. None of this is. And we will continue to remind folks of that every day.”
