FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Two people have died after a two-vehicle collision in Fresno County Monday morning, the California Highway Patrol confirms.
Officers say they received a call around 7:50 a.m. about a crash on Lincoln Avenue between Cornelia and Blythe avenues, west of Easton, in a remote, agricultural area of Fresno County.
When authorities arrived, they confirmed that two people in a Nissan Altima were killed in the crash involving a Honda Civic.
According to CHP, the Nissan was traveling west on Lincoln Avenue when the Honda driving behind suddenly rear-ended it.
The two cars spun out and into the side of the road near an orchard. The crash ultimately killed the driver and a passenger in the Nissan.
The two victims have not been identified.
The driver of the Honda suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The two victims and the Honda driver were all wearing seatbelts.
CHP says both vehicles were traveling at an unknown speed and is unsure why the Honda crashed into the Nissan, but it will determine the cause after its investigation.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Authorities are asking anyone who saw anything before or after the crash to contact the California Highway Patrol.
