FRESNO, CA (KMJ) A Fresno County deputy district attorney is recovering after a stabbing attack in downtown Fresno.
Authorities say the prosecutor was filming a campaign commercial Thursday afternoon at Courthouse Park when he was attacked without provocation.
The incident happened just after 1 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the courthouse responded immediately, arrested a suspect, and provided aid to the victim.
42-year-old Dustin Crawford of Fresno has been booked on attempted murder and attempted murder of a public official charges.
He remains in the Fresno County Jail on $1-million dollars bail. The injured prosecutor was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, treated for his injuries, and has been released.
Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp called the attack brazen and said violence has no place against those who serve the community.
Crawford has a criminal history, including serving time in a state prison.
