FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN/KMJ) –The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has released the identifies of the people in a deadly head-on crash on Thursday near Millerton Lake.
The CHP says two vehicles collided just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Auberry Road and Old Millerton Road.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says an 18-year-old woman from Clovis was driving a Toyota SUV towards the intersection and failed to stop at the sign.
Her Toyota slammed into a Nissan sedan driven by an 88-year-old man from Prather, sending both cars into a nearby embankment.
Four people were inside the Nissan, a passenger, 88-year old Yvonne Cheney, from Auberry died on scene. The other three people were taken to the hospital.
The Toyota also had four people inside, two were treated on scene and released.
The 18 year old driver suffered serious injuries, while her passenger, from San Joaquin, 94 year old Nellie Moreno, went to the hospital where she later died
The crash remains under investigation and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors.
