The Fresno County Department of Agriculture is asking growers to take part in a survey to assess potential damage to their crop.
Periods of above-normal spring temperatures have affected Fresno County, making it necessary to compile possible pistachio crop losses from the high heat.
The county is urging pistachio growers to provide information for each Fresno County permit number and site ID, including the total site acreage and the estimated percentage of damaged acreage.
All information provided will remain strictly confidential.
And the individual reports are combined to calculate total commodity losses for Fresno County, and only aggregated data is shared with state and federal disaster response agencies.
Farmers are asked to send the completed survey to AgDistaster@fresnocountyca.gov.
The announcement notes that Fresno County Department of Agriculture does not provide direct financial assistance.
Instead, the information collected supports disaster assessments and helps facilitate potential assistance through our state and federal partners.
