FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Chaffee Zoo has announced its African lion, Zamaya, has given birth to her second litter of cubs.
The delivery occurred on Saturday, July 4th.
Zoo officials say mom and her two cubs are resting and bonding behind-the-scenes as they continue to be monitored by the Zoo’s Animal Care and Veterinary teams.
“Fresno Chaffee Zoo is excited to expand our lion pride with the addition of two new cubs,” said General Curator Nicole Presley. “Zamaya is doing a great job, as
expected, and is recovering well. Both mom and the cubs will stay behind-the scenes until they have received all their vaccines and are ready to meet the public
and the rest of our lion pride.”
This is the second litter born to Zamaya and male African Lion, Chisulo. Taraj and Asali, born in 2024, were the pairs first litter and remain at the Zoo today.
