HANFORD, CA – Residents of Hanford had been warned to be on the lookout for a mountain lion Wednesday but now the big cat is custody.
The mountain lion was seen roaming around a Hanford neighborhood throughout the day.

Hanford Police received numerous calls and they contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife about the reports.
One person shared footage with KMJ’s News partner ABC30 showing the mountain lion in their front yard on Merritt Street between Centennial Drive and 12th Avenue.
Residents were told to keep their distance, move indoors, and call the Hanford Police.

The mountain lion was located and has been tranquilized by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Police are thanking resident for their reports and staying out of the area as they worked to bring this situation to a safe, peaceful conclusion.
