Federal prosecutors are investigating Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom and KMJ hosts have plenty to say about it.
Gov. Newsom acknowledged the investigations publicly, but pushed back on their legitimacy… calling them a politically motivated “fishing expedition.” At least one of the investigations was launched during the Biden administration.
According to federal sources, multiple probes are underway… and they say the investigations began with whistleblowers here in California — not in Washington. So-called “behest payments” to Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s charity are reportedly the focus of one investigation.
In a video shared Monday (below) Newsom also accused the Trump administration of trying to undercut a potential 2028 presidential run.
Details on the scope and status of the investigations have not yet been made public.
Meanwhile, Newsom this week agreed to pay a fine of $31,500 for ethics violations related to millions in donations which he solicited.
The Fair Political Practices Commission found the Governor had failed to file more than 30 behested payment reports before deadlines in 2024 and 2025.
The investigation found that many of the donations were related to relief efforts after the deadly Palisades wildfires.
Dana Williamson, Gov. Newsom’s former chief of staff, recently pleaded guilty in federal court to three felony charges: conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, subscribing to a false tax return, and making false statements to a federal agent. Prosecutors say Williamson was passing campaign money through various companies and a “no-show” job for Xavier Becerra’s former chief of staff’s wife. Williamson agreed to pay more than $500,000 in restitution to the IRS and $225,000 in losses tied to the fraud scheme.
