LOS ANGELES, CA (KMJ) Thousands of homeowners who lost properties in the Palisades Fire are now suing the city of Los Angeles — and one of the plaintiffs has a direct tie to City Hall.
Court filings show Kenneth Bass, the brother of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, is part of a wide-ranging lawsuit targeting the city, the state, and the L.A. Department of Water and Power.
Residents say failures by officials contributed to the destruction, as wind-driven embers spread the fire from Pacific Palisades into Malibu.
According to the lawsuit, Bass’s Malibu home was a total loss, and he suffered smoke inhalation and emotional distress.
