FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The city of Fresno will soon have a professional hockey team for the first time in nearly 20 years.
The team will be part of the Federal Prospects Hockey League, a minor league system with 14 teams for the 2025-26 season.
The announcement comes on the same day that Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer delivers the State of the City address.
Games are set to be played in the city’s historic Selland Area, where the former Fresno Falcons professional hockey team played.
The Falcons were part of the East Coast Hockey League before ultimately shutting down in 2008.
Listen to the report by KMJ’s Liz Kern.
