TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Family and fellow law enforcement gathered on Tuesday to honor the life of Tulare County Detective Randy Hoppert.
Funeral services were held at Visalia First Assembly with thousands in attendance.
Some of the speakers included Ashley, Hoppert’s wife, and Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux.
Hoppert was killed in the line of duty on April 9 while responding to a call for support during an eviction notice at a home in Porterville.
He was shot and killed by 59-year-old David Morales, who was then killed after being run over by a BearCat armored vehicle. The standoff lasted for nearly seven hours.
Hoppert, a Navy veteran, leaves behind his mother and sister, two sons, and a wife who is four months pregnant.
