CLOVIS, CA (KMJ) Clovis city leaders have approved major water rate hikes to head off a projected budget shortfall.
Over the next three years, customers will see water rates climb by about 60%, along with changes to how bills are calculated.
City staff say the increases are needed to cover rising operating costs and nearly $83 million in planned water projects over the next few years.
Beginning January 2027, the average customer rate jumps 21%. That includes higher service charges and steep increases for low‑volume users.
The City Council approved the plan unanimously.
