KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Five people are dead following a head-on crash in Kings County on Sunday.
The California Highway Patrol says it happened before 10:30 am on Highway 41 near York Avenue, about 15 miles south of Avenal.
Officers say the driver of a Chevy Silverado was going south on the highway when they went into the northbound lane, crashing head-on with a Toyota Prius.
The impact of the crash caused the Chevy to flip onto the shoulder and catch on fire.
Four people inside the Chevy and one person inside the Toyota were declared dead at the scene.
Officers are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
No one has been identified.
