(KMJ) Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a proclamation declaring April 10, 2026 as “Dolores Huerta Day.”
Newsom called the co-founder of the UFW, a “powerhouse for working people, civil rights, and justice”.
The Governor, who’s widely considered to be a top democratic Presidential candidate, did not mention the disgraced late co-founder Cesar Chavez in Friday’s proclamation.
Huerta recently accused Chavez of sexual assault and claimed he fathered two of her children. Several other women have also come forward with similar accusations.
Cesar Chavez Day holiday has since been changed to Farmworker Day in California and cities across the US are busily removing his name from schools, street signs and parks.
