FRESNO, CA (KMJ) The former Fresno Arts Council employee at the center of the Measure P embezzlement scandal is expected to plead guilty to federal wire fraud.
Court records show Suliana Caldwell reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, filed this week in Fresno federal court.
City leaders revealed earlier this year that about $1.5 million dollars in Measure P funds—meant for arts grants—had been stolen.
Investigators say Caldwell began siphoning money in 2022, spending it at casinos and on vacations.
She allegedly hid the scheme for years by falsifying financial reports.
Caldwell is scheduled to enter her guilty plea April 20.
She faces up to 20 years in prison, though prosecutors are recommending restitution and supervised release.
