MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — There’s an easier way for Merced County residents to dump items harmful to landfills.
The Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority has opened a new Resource and Recovery area at its landfill, north of Merced.
We’re told the facility is designed as a convenient, one-stop, drop-off location to extend the life of the landfill and comply with state regulatory standards.
It allows people to properly dispose of mattresses and box springs, tires, e-waste, clothes and textiles, used motor oil, appliances, concrete, antifreeze, batteries, paint and carpet.
The Regional Waste Management Authority says these items are hauled off-site by contracted organizations to be reused or recycled.
The Resource and Recovery area is at 7040 North Highway 59 and is open during regular landfill hours, Monday to Saturday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
