(KMJ) A new POLITICO–UC Berkeley poll shows Governor Gavin Newsom holding a strong lead over former Vice President Kamala Harris in California’s Democratic presidential primary.
Newsom tops the field with 28 percent support from likely Democratic primary voters — double Harris’ 14 percent. Neither have officially declared a bid for the White House.
Other potential candidates, including New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, trail further behind.

The poll also shows enthusiasm for a Harris campaign remains lukewarm. Only 41 percent of registered voters say they’d be excited if she ran again. And among California political insiders surveyed, Harris performs even worse, drawing just 2 percent support compared to Newsom’s 17 percent.
