RESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — In Fresno County, Cleanup is still underway after last week’s powerful storms that moved through the area.
Hume Lake Christian Camps is now asking for the public’s help after the weather caused a fire that destroyed one of their cabins.
No one was injured, but the camp is now working on restoration as it prepares for summer.
They say preliminary estimates exceed $1 million.
During the storm, the staff says hundreds of trees started breaking and falling, and one fell on power lines, which started the fire.
Camp was canceled, so no campers were there when it started.
The camp has been there for 80 years, and the senior director of operations says he’s never seen a storm so severe in the area.
”This is very unique, and I’ve been around Hume through fires and floods,” says Bill Carroll. “This is another for the record books of just craziness.”
Hume Lake Christian Camps created a “Summer Starts Here” fund.
