(KMJ) The High Speed Rail project can’t seem to get out of its own way.
Earlier this week, the bullet train’s CEO, Ian Choudri, took a leave of absence following his arrest for domestic violence.
Now, we’re learning that one of the items on his to-do list is to petition the state legislature to allow HSR to take control of the land surrounding its future stations and the tax revenue that would come with it.
Republican Assemblywoman Ali Macedo blasted the controversial project calling it “insane” in an interview Friday with KMJ’s Ray Appleton:
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer tells the Fresno Bee that while he supports High Speed Rail, he does not support ceding city tax dollars to the troubled project.
Choudri was arrested Feb. 4 in the city of Folsom outside Sacramento. The Folsom Police Department did not share additional details on the episode.

The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office did not press charges against Choudri or ask him to appear in court, his lawyer Allen Sawyer said. Choudri chose to take “a few days” away from his job, Sawyer said.
