(KMJ) Gov. Gavin Newsom is heading across the pond again, three weeks after admonishing world leaders at the Davos Economic Summit for not standing up to President Trump.
This time Newsom will attend the Munich Security Conference where world leaders will discuss global security.
Newsom is expected to discuss climate policy and meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz who will kick off the summit on Friday.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is leading Trump’s delegation, is scheduled to speak on Saturday.
At a news conference Tuesday, Newsom said “I’m going to walk into that conference … and make the case that California is a stable and reliable partner,” he said. “That California has significantly grown its GDP … and we have significantly reduced our greenhouse gas emissions.”
Other prominent US democrats attending include Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Dubbed the world’s largest security conference, the German event has been held annually for more than half a century.
